New U.S. Customs Policy: Duty Prepayment & Adjustment

Following a U.S. Executive Order, significant changes have been made to international trade regulations. Specifically, the "de minimis" exemption which previously allowed goods valued under $800 to enter the United States duty free has been removed. Consequently, all imported items, regardless of their declared value, are now subject to mandatory customs duties, taxes, and federal fees.

Impact on Shipping Carriers

These regulatory shifts require couriers to report and collect duties prior to a package's entry into the United States.

  1. Japan Post: Due to current technical limitations in processing prepaid electronic duty data, Japan Post has temporarily suspended all shipments to the U.S.
  2. FedEx: To maintain service continuity, we have transitioned all U.S. shipments to FedEx DDP (Delivered Duty Paid).

Our Solution:

A "Prepaid Duty" fee will now be applied at checkout. This fee covers the specific tariff for your item’s country of origin as well as necessary handling fees. This proactive approach ensures your shipment complies with U.S. CBP (Customs and Border Protection) requirements and guarantees that no further payment will be requested by the carrier upon delivery.

Understanding Tariff Calculations

Please be advised that tariffs are determined by the Country of Origin (where the product was manufactured), not the location from which the item is shipped. Rates typically range between 15% and 55%, depending on the product category and material composition.
