Snufkin (Snusmumrikken / スナフキン) is a philosophical, independent wanderer created by Tove Jansson, first appearing in the 1946 novel Comet in Moominland. He wears a dark green hat and worn-out clothes, carries a backpack, and travels with his harmonica. Calm, curious, and fiercely devoted to freedom, Snufkin enjoys solitude, nature, fishing, and playing music. He spends the warmer months around Moominvalley before traveling south for the winter, and is Moomintroll's closest friend.
