Sailor Mars (セーラーマーズ), created by Naoko Takeuchi in 1992, is the Sailor Guardian identity of Rei Hino (火野レイ). A high school miko, Rei has long black hair, a red-and-white Sailor Mars uniform, and a strong-willed, fiery temperament. Dedicated to protecting Princess Serenity and Earth, she uses powerful fire-based attacks, sacred ofuda, and her spiritual abilities to combat evil. She balances her duties as a shrine maiden and Sailor Guardian with her close yet frequently argumentative friendship with Usagi Tsukino.
