Pichu (ピチュー) is the "Mouse Pokémon", an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II (1999 in Japan; 2000 internationally) and designed by Atsuko Nishida. It is a small, yellow Pokémon with large ears, pink cheek pouches, and a black-tipped tail. Playful and energetic but inexperienced with its electrical abilities, Pichu can accidentally discharge electricity when startled or excited, sometimes surprising itself in the process. It evolves into Pikachu through high friendship.
