Monkey D. Luffy (モンキー・D・ルフィ) is the fictional protagonist of One Piece, created by Eiichiro Oda in 1997. Nicknamed "Straw Hat", he is a lean young man with a distinctive scar under his left eye and an upbeat, reckless personality. Raised under the care of the mountain bandit Curly Dadan, he gained rubber-like powers after eating a Devil Fruit and set sail to become King of the Pirates. Blunt, food-obsessed, and fiercely loyal, Luffy will go to great lengths to protect his friends and crew.
