Iiwaken (いいわけん) is a San-X character created in 2010. A loyal Shiba Inu whose name is a pun combining iiwake ("excuse") and ken ("dog"), he helps his salaryman owner, who frequently oversleeps. Resembling an ordinary Shiba Inu, Liwaken wears a crayon around his neck and writes and hand-delivers excuse notes to his owner’s company, doing everything he can to keep his owner out of trouble.
