Cinderella (シンデレラ) is the heroine of a classic folk tale popularized by Charles Perrault in 1697. Named for the cinders where she is forced to sleep, she is a gentle, kind-hearted young woman mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters. Patient and forgiving despite her hardships, she receives magical help from her Fairy Godmother to attend a royal ball. There, her grace and kindness captivate the Prince, and she is ultimately reunited with him when a glass slipper fits only her, allowing her to leave her unhappy life behind.
