Belle (ベル) is the fictional protagonist of Disney's 1991 animated film Beauty and the Beast, created by screenwriter Linda Woolverton. Meaning "beauty" in French, Belle is an intelligent young woman with brown hair, best known for her blue village dress and elegant yellow ball gown.
